Rich in History
The Wherry Hotel, sitting beside the water at Oulton Broad, has long been part of Suffolk’s coastal story. Back in the early 1800s, it began as the Mutford Bridge Inn, a welcome stop for travellers and tradesmen. Then in 1897, local entrepreneur George Mason transformed it into the Wherry Hotel and Yacht Station, offering boat hires and fine hospitality to Victorian holidaymakers. Through the 20th century, it thrived as a hub for regattas, reunions, and riverside charm. Today, with 32 rooms, a trusted carvery, and those same sparkling views, The Wherry continues to offer comfort, company, and a front-row seat to the ebb and flow of Broadland life.
